Patriotic Christmas

Posted by Lena Nunn at 12:01 PM 6 comments
Hi Friends!!! I bet you all thought I ran away huh? I just have been so busy with the new job I have no time to post lately. I used to actually do it while I was at work but now there is just no time for that. Dang new job!
I made this card the other night for a friend for my brother and SIL who are very patriotic and love horses. I love it because it doesn't use the traditional red and green. Hopefully I can post some more stuff I have been doing later...

Cha-cha-changes

Posted by Lena Nunn at 7:44 PM 1 comments

Hi everyone! Sorry it has been so long since I have posted on here. I recieved a new job at work so I have been a busy girl. Two of the woman who work with me left and the company decided instead of bringing in new people for their jobs they would just give them to me. Whoo hoo lucky me ( sarcasm). For those of you who don't know I work at a newspaper as the receptionist. Well in the last few weeks I have became the receptionist, circulation bookeeper and the whole circulation department . Its been super stressful. Anyways this weekend was the first time I was actually able to get to stamping. Whooo hooo! Jammie and I made cards last night and in the midst of a The Greeting Farm challenge I ran out of glue so I went to the store today and restocked and VOILA! This is my challenge which was to be inspired by a tag on the site. I love tags, especially huge ones for big packages. This one would probably only work as a wine tag or on a bike because its 8 inches!!! I loved making it though and totally enjoyed the down time with my pal. Hope to see you more often as I just got a computer at my house ( have not had one in 6 years!!!) .

Vintage Christmas

Posted by Lena Nunn at 9:10 AM 2 comments
Happy Halloween friends! I know this post does not look very halloween-ish but thats because Im in full Christmas card mode. I have to make a ton of them for a Christmas Boutique im selling at. I love vintage Christmas cards so I really wanted to make some vintage looking ones. I have a few cards from old family friends that I called Grandpa and grandma that are from the 30's . They Have music notes on them and old vintage santas . So adorable! I made this one using a piece of sheet music that I distressed with my Making Memories Distresser and some brown Close To Cocoa ink. The image of santa was also done the same way. I inked up my Baroque Motifs stamp and stamped it onto the Music also. The wreath has been in my collection for about 4 years. My friend Cassie gave me a bunch of them a long time ago saying " you'll figure out something to do with them". She was right . I love this card. The only thing it doesnt have is the vintage smell and I have no idea how you would acheive that.
I am entering this card into the Simon Says Stamp Challenge of Anything Goes

A gun cabinet for my papa

Posted by Lena Nunn at 10:00 AM 4 comments
Its a very important day! My dads birthday is today. I sat there wondering what to make for his card last night because all hes into is fishing and guns. Ive made him a gazillion fishing birthday cards ( ok hes not that old) so I wanted to switch it up. I decided on a gun cabinet card. This card was made using brown paper that I stamed with a wood grain stamp. I put the guns on the card base using some pop dots. I then made the "door" and put acetate in the middle to look like glass. It was then attatched to card using pop dots. I love the results of this card. In case your wondering about the pa , I call my dad Pa and my mom Ma. I am entering this card in the Simon Says "anything goes" challenge.

A little Brayering, a little cricut, a little stamps

Posted by Lena Nunn at 11:52 AM 0 comments
Happy Monday friends! Is there such a thing? I'm going to hope there is. I made this card on Saturday night in hopes that I could combine my new cricut with stamping. I LOVE it! I started this card by brayering Pacific Point onto white cardstock. The moon was a circle I had taped on there before brayering. I then stamped the trees from Lovely as a tree over it . The snow was made by tearing paper and then adding snow tec to it. Lastly I cut out the reindeer using the Cricut cartridge Wildlife and stamped the sentiment in Black ink. I know the brayering is kind of streaky but I like to think it looks like the northern lights. Right right?

Ive been Scammed :(

Posted by Lena Nunn at 10:11 AM 4 comments
How can some people be so cruel?  I just don't get it . Let me explain. I just got a cricut and I'm looking for cartridges for cheap since I am on a really tight budget.  I went to Splitcoast Stampers forums. Well I found a lady on the buy/sell/trade forum who wanted to do some trading of some of my stamps for some cricut cartridges. I was so excited because I had a bunch in my trade pile that she wanted and she had a bunch of cricut carts I wanted. She even had paper pups which is at the top of my wish list. So we agreed to trade stamps for 3 carts and then I pay paled her $20.00 for the paper pups . Well come to find out she was a scammer. She got my box of stamps and money and never sent a thing. She deleted her blog even. Well I can't just go out and spend the money on cartridges so now Im out the stamps, and the $20 not to mention the money it cost to ship the stamps to her priority. How can people scam other stampers? Thats like against the rules of the stampin sisterhood or something!!! I guess she did it to a couple people on there. ggrrrr.
Anyways I made this card last night for the SCS Sketch Challenge SC355. I recieved this adorable stamp from wish rak. . I paper pieced it with some paper I also got off Wish Rak!

Embossing with nesties

Posted by Lena Nunn at 12:03 PM 3 comments
I learned a new trick! Ok well most of you probably already know this because you actually read packaging but I had no idea I could just emboss with my nesties until yesterday. I was using the folder thingy mabiggy that comes with nesties as a shim when the embossing word caught my eye. So I had to try it. Easy Peasy embossing squeezy! You just lay down the rubber tan mat and paper and then nestie and run through. Voila! I used the lovely as a tree set to stamp inside my oval. These are just the tips of the trees and I added some snow tech to the bottom. Loovvveee the results of this card!

Stamps and Cricut

Posted by Lena Nunn at 8:58 AM 3 comments
Happy Monday friends! Its pouring rain here and today is Columbus day so the banks and post office is closed. However I still have to work but its really dead today so Im posting this. I made this card the other day using my new stamps from Marks Finest Papers and my new cricut to do the Birthday Blessings. I love how it turned out even though I only used browns . The birthday blessings is from the George Cartridge and the nesting shapes behind the deer is from Accent Essentials.

Glittery Nightmare

Posted by Lena Nunn at 3:38 PM 1 comments
I HAAAATTTTEEEE GLITTER!!!!!!!! You know what I mean right? You open up the jar to use a tiny bit on a card and it gets everywhere! I was prepared this time. I took out my Stampin' Up! Dazzling diamonds and thought " How come I never use this? It rocks!!!" ( funny how we always forget why we dont use it all the time). I then pulled out my powder pal and a LARGE sheet of paper to cover my surface. I layed the paper on my desk with the powder pal on top of it. Hahah im gonna outsmart this glitter. I used a glue pen to mark where I wanted the fine little crystals of mass destruction. I then held card over powder pal and sprinkled lightly . I tapped the card and all the extras went in the PP . Whoo hoo this might work after all. I close the glitter, sit the card on the back of my desk ( where I take pictures) . Im amazed. I did it! Card falls. I reach over desk to sit it back up and hit powder pal . It goes to floor along with the glitter that still in it. After a few curse words I grab some baby wipes and get it up off the floor and all over my hands. When im done cleaning up I grab card and take it downstairs to show Tony my masterpiece. What does he say? " How did you get glitter in your hair?" gggrrrr. I hate glitter!

P.S. I still love this simple card though so Im entering it in the Southern Girls Challenge which is anything goes.

Mixing it up a bit

Posted by Lena Nunn at 9:11 AM 2 comments
I went to Big Lots! the other day to look for school supplies for my step-daughter and lookie what I found! If you have ever been to big lots with me you will know I have a routine. I walk in the door and head straight for the scrapbooking aisle. It doesn't matter if im there for school supplies. I just have to look! So the other day I went in there and made my usual beeline for the aisle. I stopped , I gasped! They had restocked!!!! There was tons of new stamps and paper. I got 3 wooden stamps for me and a clear set for for Jammie . I then was walking away when I saw boxed sets of stamps. Right on top was this horse set. It had 10 stamps and an ink pad. The horse wasnt originally silouette but with a sharpie marker any stamp can be . I grabbed the set and the rest of my stuff and went for the school supplies I was supposed to be getting ( which wasn't nearly as fun).
When I got home I decided to make this card for a customer. Her friend loves horses and she wanted a birthday card for him. I brayered not quite navy on white cardstock to get the sky. I then stamped my nature silhouettes with black ink. Stamped the horse and colored him in with sharpie and VOILA! Your probably not even readign the rest of this post. You probably dropped everything to go to big lots to look at stamps huh?

Your Berry Sweet!

I have an amazing friend who is always there for me so I wanted to make her a card to show her how much it she means to me. She loves strawberries so this is right up her alley.I got this paper from Michaels and I couldn't wait to use it!!! Its been sitting in a pile of other paper for over a month. Yeah i'm that kind of person. Got to have it and then don't use it for a long time. Anyways last night I was stamping with Jammie and she suggested I do a gate fold card. GGRRRR. I hate gate
folds. They are not the easiest to make. But I love the result! Hope she loves it! I also entered this card in the Card Makin Mamas Pink Challenge.

Easy peasy lemon ...tea..sy?

Posted by Lena Nunn at 10:33 AM 4 comments
Yippee I finally got a big shot again!!! For those of you who missed the post, about a year ago Tony was wanting to use the big shot . I had my back turned and he asked if you had to push on it to get it to go through. Well yeah sometimes if your paper sandwhich is thick you have to push slightly on it to get it to start going. Well Tony took this as put all your weight into this push and well..It broke all the teeth in the big shot!! he felt really bad and swore he would buy me another one but since times have been so hard I havnt had one for a year. Well last weekend Tony said he wanted to go to Mikes so I could pick up more glue and so I go running over to check out new stamps and leave him to go get it. I find him later in line with a big shot. I tell him we dont have money for it, he tells me he does and insist ( I admit I didnt put up much of a fight). So anyways I ran home and unwrapped my new toy. I
Add Imagemade this tea folder first thing. You can make one of these by folding a piece of paper in half and putting it on your top note but not all the way to the edge. Then when you open it will look like this. Then I just used the scallop envelope die and made two pockets for inside . Easy peasy lemon ...tea..sy?

Yard sale finds!

Posted by Lena Nunn at 11:46 AM 7 comments
I love yard sales that have stamps!! I don't know if you know this but I work at a newspaper , and on Friday my friend who works in classifieds told me about a yard sale that said they were having stamps. whoo hoo!!! Saturday morning I dragged Tony out of bed and to the address ( I wanted to be there first thing so I didn't have to fight anyone for sets hahaha. When we got there the lady was unpacking the stuff and didnt have any sets out yet so I was looking at baby clothes and Tony was chatting with her and people were coming in. I have trained Tony to have an eye for stamp deals so when the lady pulled the Stampin' Up! Color caddy out of the box he took it right then and told her he wanted it. It had 25 stamp pads , some refills and some stamps on the top!!! He came and told me she said $10 for it and I was so excited but I told him that was probably without the stamp pads because most of them were sealed still. By then she had some stamp sets out and we took a look and snagged this one . Its called all aboard and its collectable!! The stamps look like they have never been used. Anyways we
went up to pay and the lady told us $10.50 for everything !!!! Score!!! I dont know who was happier me or Tony ( probably because he knew my stamp pads would not be all over the desk anymore). I got home and looked at the colors and there was the whole 2007 in color collection , still sealed. I finally got my buckaroo blue! Anyone else find awesome deals like this at yard sales?

Im from the country and I like it that way...

Posted by Lena Nunn at 12:06 PM 0 comments
Happy Friday Friends!!! This morning my friend Emily and I were talking about people who deny their roots. People who are from the country but claim not to be "hicks". Im sorry but if your from a small little town in the country, your a hick. Pure and simple. Nothing bad about that. I'm from the country. I love that I was raised in a small little town where everyone knows everyone and kids are taught about hard work and morals. Maybe Im just strange that way...
Anyways... what got us on this topic is I made this card last night for 365 Cards challenge ( Scallops, Sponging and Stitching ). This card is sooo me. I love the kraft paper ( of course!) , I love the distressing and I love the vintage pinup cowgirl. Its so Hick and so me . hahaha

Best distress

Posted by Lena Nunn at 8:34 AM 3 comments

I know some of you are back here looking for the paper bead tutorial and I promise I will post one sometime in the next week. My Batteries on my camera are dead and although usually I take all my pics with my phone I think clearer camera pics would be better for a tutorial. I did however make this card for the challenge over at Cards For Men the theme was to do a wild west card. I just got this set ( ive wanted it forever and scored it for $4.00 ! Go Me!!! Fist pump) so I wanted to ink it up. This is a super simple card that just uses a lot of distressing . Ive tried a lot of things for distressing until I found this
little gadget at Beverlys for $1.49. I got mine two years ago and its still going strong. All you do is run it along the edges of the paper and the blade distresses. How cool is that? Speaking of cool I hope you all are staying inside keeping cool. Its been HOT here!

Shrinky Broads

Posted by Lena Nunn at 8:23 AM 2 comments
Jammie challenged me the other day to do the Greeting Farm Challenge which was a abc . Anything but a card. I received a key chain about two months ago from my sweet step daughter that used letters like these and the white beads like these. Since I had some of these beads myself from a kit I had I decided to snag her idea and make a bracelet. See those black and white beads? Those are my new hobby. PAPER BEADS! I've been using my scraps to make paper beads! Check back here tomorrow for a tutorial ! The girls were made by stamping on Shrink Plastic and then heating ( shrinking ) down with a heat gun. Love how this turned out! What Jammie forgot to mention to me was because this was a throwback challenge I can't use the cheeky shooter so I guess this is just going in the regular gallery.

Hotter than __________!

Posted by Lena Nunn at 12:50 PM 1 comments

Its hotter than h- e- double hockey sticks here!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you guys are all surviving this heat. I hate it. I really am a fall/winter girl. Lets face it, sweaters are so much more flattering than tank tops and swim suits. Seriously I'm melting. My craft table is upstairs in our house in our bedroom and when I come home from work its over 90 degrees in there!!!! I have to open the windows and turn on all the fans just to be able to stamp . I did get these cards done the other day when I woke up early and decided to beat the heat. The top one is a birthday card ( obviously) and the bottom one is a anniversary card. I love the background paper I used for this. I got it in a K &company mat stack pad at Ross ( yes Ross) for $2.99!!!! Its textured too. LOVE LOVE LOVE!
The flowers are from a K and Company pad of punch out flowers I got at Michaels ( the happiest place on earth) .

Ahhh I'm back ! Last time I posted I told you I was working on some baby shower invites. Well I finally finished them. 45 of them!!! This bella stamp which is called Teddy Bella is the only stamp I have picked up in a week. Isnt she darling? I love the idea of popping her tummy out with a pop dot ( thanks pal) . The lady who wanted these cards wanted Jungle theme but only Giraffes and Elephants and her baby shower colors are going to be lime green , teal and brown so this was a task! I made the Elly/giraffe paper myself using my scrapbooking program and a digi kit I bought . The bottom paper was also printed from the same digi kit. This is the first time Ive made hybrid card in a sense and ill be doing it a lot. I love that you can create your own paper using the digi elements and the colors people want. Its awesome!!! Now moving on to other stamps that have been neglected lately.

Long time no post....

Posted by Lena Nunn at 12:05 PM 0 comments
Sorry its been awhile since Ive posted. Ive just been having one of those weeks where I just don't feel like myself. Most of those who know me are probably going huh? You see usually I'm a happy girl. Always in a good mood and positive and this week I'm just....not. I don't know why. Ever have one of those? Maybe posting on this will cheer me up ? Perhaps.
I got asked to do 45 baby shower invites with Elephants, giraffs, this bella with teal , brown and lime green as main colors. As you can see I'm straying from colors a bit. Youi just cant do all those request with three colors. I love this Bella ( I should hope so it was 11.00 to ship her to me!!) I think she will get tons of use. I colored these ladies in with Prisma Color pencils and oms. I then popped her prego belly on a pop dot . So stinkin cute!!! I hope she likes them !

Long neck card

Posted by Lena Nunn at 9:17 AM 6 comments
Jammie and I were making cards last night together via blackberry ( we stamp and chat on blackberry, snap pics and send each other) and decided to do the 365 cards Sunday Sketch, the Drunken Stampers Challenge which was to you Orange on a card and she threw in a challenge of I had to use some chalk. I had made some digital paper for some baby shower invites im doing so I decided to use some of those scraps on this card. I also had this girraff laying there so I decided to use it . I did the blue background using my chalks but then it looked like something was missing so I erased and E in the card so I could send it to my friend Emily who loves giraffes. I know the E is kind of sloppy but my eraser was square. Hope she likes it anyways.

13 Layers is too much work !!

Posted by Lena Nunn at 9:01 AM 1 comments
Sometimes I am the biggest dork ( hey stop nodding yes!) . hahah I made this card for the 365 challenge which was 13 of something. I have 13 layers on this card. I was so happy when it was done I hurried and gave it to the girl I made it for without taking a picture . ggrrr. Thats where the dork part comes in. She did take a picture in black and white and post it on facebook before she left to get hitched so I snagged that one. Its just not the same in black and white :(

A birthday card for myself?

Posted by Lena Nunn at 8:44 AM 5 comments
A card for myself? The challenge over at 365 cards was to make a birthday card that was fitting for yourself. This was harder than I though. Do I put fishing on it? Stamps? Western? As you can see I went with western because 1) I love this image and 2) I could keep it black and white to fit with the card. I adore this card layout which I found on The Deconstructed Sketch . This is the first time ive played along over there and I will for sure go back because I always need sketch INKspiration.
