Sympathy Tree

Stamps: Tree Greetings
Ink: versafine, old olive
Paper: Recollections, Watercolor Paper
Other: SU stampin' write markers, aqua pen
Happy long weekend friends! I'm so excited for this weekend. My step son and his wife and baby are coming over and they are so much fun. Willow ( the baby ) is going to be 2 on September 15th. Those of you who remember the post of the day she was born are probably thinking like me. Its been two years already?!? How? Where did time go?     Last night I was in full crafty mode.  This happens when the house is clean ( thanks, babe) and I don't let myself sit to watch tv ( because lets face it once you watch tv for 10 minutes the next thing you know its been two hours. Well at least in my case). Anyways I went upstairs and started my card for the Speedy Fox and Friends Sympathy challenge. I looked through all my stamps from Marks Finest Papers, A Heinrich Co. and wouldn't you know it but I don't have one sympathy stamp in them . I'm slackin! Must do order today ( like how I slide an excuse to buy stamps in there. Please try this at home kids). I figured thinking of you would work in a sympathy card because that's the reason you send one, because you are thinking of the ones in mourning. I water colored the background using SU markers and a Aqua pen on watercolor paper. I then stamped the tree from Tree Greetings using versafine ink. The shadow of the tree was done by stamping the tree in old olive ( I didn't even clean the stamp before I re inked. GASP!!) and stamping it at a angle. Do you have any sympathy stamps? You should join our challenge and you could win a stamp set! Lets face it , who doesn't need more stamps??

Lesson Learned

Posted by Lena Nunn at 11:00 PM 7 comments
Happy Saturday friends! I hope you all get all weekend to stamp and do fun things like me :). I have dedicated this weekend to nothing but stamping , fishing and cleaning my house ( which I admit I actually like doing) . To kick off the weekend of stamping I made this card for the Speedy Fox and Friends challenge which was to use a different fold. I admit it, I usually don't get very risky with my cards. Simple rectangles, straight edges, not to crazy. I wanted to do something different but not to crazy ( haha heaven forbid I do something crazy adventures with my cards) so I decided to do a easel card. They are so simple and I always love the results. I wanted to use the new Lesson Learned set from Marks Finest Papers and stamps, a Heinrich Co. and make it for a friend of mine who is a teacher. Her name is Mrs. Hult so I wrote that on the blackboard using a white pen to make it look like chalk. Hopefully she likes it. The calender was one I found online and printed on white paper and then cut down to size. The books and apple were colored in using Prismacolor pencils and OMS ( oderless mineral spirits).  If you play along with us this week you could win an awesome stamp set!

Beachy challenge

Posted by Lena Nunn at 6:44 PM 7 comments
Ever have one of those days when you should have stayed in bed? That was my day today. We decided to get up at 4:30 this morning and go fishing at our local lake. We took my dads bronco (its a classic and is usually awesome). Well this time of year the top is off and i sat in the back so the whole way to the lake I froze my hiney off. Then we got there and went to back the bpat up into the water and the bronco died. After swapping batteries we finally get it going and get the boat into the lake. Then the boat wont start which never happens. It was murphys law today at the lake!!!
So I couldnt wait to come home and do some stamping . I love the challenge for FOSTV this week because it beach theme!! whoo hooo. I used the silly shells set from Marks Finest Papers, A Heinrich Co. For this simple beach card. Play along and you may win an awesome set!

I love sunflowers, don't you? I couldnt wait to use these stamps for some cards for friends this week who I have been missing. The challenge for Speedy Fox And Friends was to make a card for friendship. I was so stoked. I colored this sunflower using Su markers and blender pens on watercolor paper. I then layered it and bent the petals forward for some dimention. So fun!!! I already send this card out to a friend who I have been missing lately. Hopefully she loves it! Me Vrs. Tony Challenge style

Posted by Lena Nunn at 11:00 PM 6 comments
Its Me vrs HIM Time!!!! Its been awhile since I have been able to get Tony to stamp with me so I figured he was about due. The easiest way to get him to stamp with me is go on and on about how I dont know how I'm going to do a certain challenge. Then he chimes in and shows me exactly how he would do it. So this morning I was debating over what I wanted to do for the FOSTV challenge which is to use Pink, light green and cream or grey so I told Tony I was stumped. Pretty soon we were both making cards. He thinks his is better. I think mine is better . Hey its all for fun right? So anyways back to the challenge. I used this adorable crab from a set called Oh Crab! coming out next week from Marks Finest Papers and stamps, A Heinrich Co. Isn't he cute? Wait until you see the rest of the set!!! If you play along this week with us you could win this adorable set called

Spotted Dotted

Posted by Lena Nunn at 11:30 PM 8 comments

Stamps: Mothers Magnolias, Makrs Finest Papers, A Heinrich Co.
Ink: Close to cocoa by Stampin' Up!
Paper : dcwv, recollections
other: embossing folder, big shot

Ok Ive horded this paper long enough. Seriously though.. we're talkin like two years. Its my favorite dots paper and I hate to use it up ( silly huh) . Since this paper was on top of the pile and the challenge for Speedy Fox and Friends is Dots, it got nominated. Suprisingly I even made the card 5x7. Usually when I hoard paper I try to make the card as small as possible so I can get more uses out of one sheet. I'm that bad! I used the stamp set Mothers Magnolias for this card because I adore it. Its from Marks Finest Papers, A Heinrich Co. and you can find it here! If you dig out your polka dotted paper and make a card this week for the challenge you could be the lucky winner of a stamp set. I suggest using a piece you've been hoarding a long time like I did! Have fun!

Chalk it up

Posted by Lena Nunn at 7:59 PM 5 comments
Well I made it through the fair. Lets hear a round of applause haha. Eveything went great and my dad will be home tommorow. I bough one lamb from an ffa girl and we will donate it to a local senior center. Now that im done with fair I can focus on fun stuff like stamping. The challenge this week on FOSTV is to use chalk on your card. For my card i stamped the cherry blossoms in versafine and then rubber chalk over them. I also did this with the symbols. We cant wait to see what you do with chalk and hope you play along this week!

Be Wild & Free

Stamps: Be wild & Free, Scenic Selections by Marks Finest Papers, A Heinrich Co
Ink: Versafine, Pink Passion, Really Rust, CLose to Cocoa, Sahara Sand
Paper: Watercolor Paper, Recollections
You ever have those days where you feel like your running around with your head cut off? Thats the kind of day I'm having. For those of you who don't know i'm part of a non profit organization called Born and Raised In Mendocino County that gives scholorships and awards to kids in 4-H and FFA ( I was both in 4-H and in FFA). Well my dad is president of this organization but hes out of town right now so Im having to fill in for him at the local fair thats going on right now. This means Im giving out awards and having to buy animals at the auction. WHO KNEW IT WAS THIS MUCH WORK?? I have so much respect for my parents who were 4-H leaders for over 20 years and now do this.  I finally got home after running around and forgot that I had a card to make for Speedy Fox and Friends.
Ive really wanted to bust out my SU markers and watercolor paper lately so this is the product of that ( and of it being 11 at night when I remembered). The challenge over at Speedy Fox and Friends is to make a card with a back to nature theme. I think a lot of people think forest when they think of nature so I wanted to do the opposite. I used my su markers and a waterbrush to watercolor the sky , mountains and sand before I stamped the animals with Versafine. I find versafine works best on the watercolor paper because its such a wet ink. I love this set called Be Wild and Free from Marks Finest Papers, A Heinrich Co. Its so cute and I love how it has more than just lions and zebras. Its awesome! If you come play along you could win an awesome stamp set from MFP too!
Well im off to bed , have to get up early tommorow ( well I guess today since this will post Saturday Morning) and go to the auction to buy some lambs. Wish me luck and cool weather. Hurry home Pa this is too much work hahah.
